into the Gulf of America
on New Year's Day,

Caring and Sharing started over 40 years ago when the Holley-Navarre Fire Station gathered toys for local children for Christmas. There are families in South Santa Rosa County that are struggling to make ends meet on a day-to-day basis, and the extra expense of holiday meals and gifts for their children can be overwhelming. Through the generosity of others, last year they served 200+ families with almost 400 children!
Through the years the Christmas Distribution expanded to include a Thanksgiving Distribution and has become a community event, supported by a broad range of individuals, families, and organizations. The Pirates on the Panhandle, Inc. are proud to be able to assist this 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, in which all members are volunteers, and no one earns a paycheck. Their dedicated team of volunteers has been motivated over the years by a desire to help neighbors in need, from Gulf Breeze into Navarre that live in the following zip codes: 32561, 32562, 32563, and 32566.
Caring and Sharing provides the following services:
• Identifies families in need through churches, schools, and other service organizations within the area. Holds registrations and screens clients to verify their genuine need;
• Collects food through the Gulf Breeze and Navarre churches, schools, businesses, and civic organizations;
• Provides Thanksgiving food baskets, and if available, good used clothing and household items (through a partnership with Interfaith Ministries); and
• Provides Christmas food baskets, toys for children, and gift certificates for teens.
The proceeds from the 8th Annual Pirate Plunge into the Gulf of America will be going to Caring and Sharing of South Santa Rosa County this year, and our Little Band of Pirates couldn't be happer to assist this wonderful nonprofit community organization!
